“Most ‘review’ sites are just paid content at this point.”
“Everything is top rated.”
— Canadian players on Reddit, about sites like this one
They’re right. So here’s how this site is different, and how you can check:
- We cut scores in public. Five casinos were downgraded this month over player complaint patterns; the reasoning is in the corrections log.
- We list casinos that don’t pay us. Every licensed operator is in the directory, commission or not, and money never moves a score. The methodology is published.
- Every licence claim links to the official registry, with the date we last checked it. Don’t trust us — click through.

Paid fast, or ranked down
Payout speed weighs heavily in our scoring. Casinos that make you wait days for your own money do not sit at the top of this list.
Every casino that counts
We track all 44 Ontario-licensed operators and every Alberta registrant, including the ones that don’t pay us a cent.
No pay-to-rank
Scores come from a published framework covering payouts, trust, games, mobile and support. A casino cannot buy its position here.
Licence-checked weekly
Every listing is verified against the official iGO and AGLC registries, dated on the page. If a licence drops, so does the casino.
Quick answers
What is the best casino site in Canada right now?
Casino Days holds the #1 position on the June 2026 True North Casino Index, scoring 9.6/10 on the strength of 0-24 hour Interac payouts, a large game library and verified AGCO licensing. The best site for you depends on what you weight: bet365 has the fastest payouts (1-4 hours), Betano the biggest lobby, LeoVegas the best mobile apps and Spin Casino the lowest minimum deposit ($1).
How are the rankings decided?
By a published scoring framework: payout speed and banking, games and live casino, mobile experience, support, and licensing trust. Commercial relationships never affect scores, and newly added operators are capped as provisional listings until fully verified.
Are these casinos legal in Canada?
Every casino on the index is licensed by the AGCO and operates under an agreement with iGaming Ontario; seven are also registered for Alberta’s July 13, 2026 launch. We re-check the official registries weekly and show the verification date on every review.
Why is a brand I know ranked below smaller casinos?
Newly indexed operators enter as provisional listings capped at 8.3 while they complete our verification cycle. Eleven brands joined in June 2026, including bet365, FanDuel and the Casino Rewards group, and hold provisional positions; expect movement in the July edition. Scores also move when player complaint patterns warrant it: five scores were cut in June 2026 after a structured review, logged publicly on our corrections page.
Do I pay tax on casino winnings in Canada?
No - recreational gambling winnings are not taxable income in Canada. They are treated as a windfall, and losses are not deductible either. The exceptions are professional gambling (a high bar) and U.S. winnings, where 30% is withheld at source. Full answer with sources in our tax guide.
What documents will a casino ask for?
Government photo ID, proof of address dated within 90 days, and often a selfie with your ID or proof of payment method. Submit them the day you open an account - before your first deposit - so your first withdrawal is not stuck behind a document review. Our withdrawals guide explains the whole process.
